Thomas Tallis was a leading English composer who lived from 1505 till 1585. In his life, he served several monarchs and he had the ability to adapt his style to the taste of the monarch. The canon that served this composition is one of the nine tunes Thomas Tallis wrote for Matthew Parker's Psalter (1561). The melody was used for psalm 67 in which the tenor started, followed by the soprano. In this composition, the tune is heard several times in different ways before the piece closes majestically.
