Take my Hand

Take my hand is a hymn tune arrangement on Nottingham. This hymn tune is used - as often - with several texts. The title of this arrangement is derived from the second verse of the words that Frances Ridley Havergal wrote. The arrangement starts quietly with a prelude with the opening motif from the tune followed by the tune. The second verse is heard in the tenor register but with a unusual setting. An interlude, in which the meter appears to be lost, leads into the majestic close with the hymn in a bright fortissimo.
