Voyage to Victory

Voyage to Victory can easily be caracterized as filmic. The listener will have no problem at all imagining a thrilling movie with an happy end. Before victory, problems and situations have to be conquered. A slow introduction, which has underlying tension, comes to a climax after which a fast movement starts. The battle beginns. This part is caracterized by pushing rhythm and meter changes. The next part, an elegy with capricious harmony: the search for answers and support. Rest is found as the chorale is presented. After this, new spirit is collected for the final battle. This movements starts with a three part canon and ends in an apotheosis in which the chorale is heard one more time.
